The IPI ranks countries based on an individual’s ability to afford a minimum basket of mobile internet, which includes 1 GB of monthly access at a minimum download speed of 10 Mb per second.
Increasingly, the internet (and access to it) is currently seen as a basic requirement, alongside food, clothing, housing, and energy. Thanks to internet access, the world can stay entertained, educated, and, most importantly, connected. Measuring internet poverty can help raise awareness and identify the most vulnerable groups.
